About Us
First Baptist Church of Kingsbury is the oldest Baptist Church in the County of La Porte and has been in existence since 1834. It is, and has been, an independent Baptist Church since 1954. It has served this community from its beginning, and we desire to continue that tradition of expressing the love of Christ.
Our passion is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and being used by Him in His glorious work of redeeming sinners and nurturing them in His truths. We want to reflect the love of Christ to the community around us and beyond. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, or if there is something we might help you with. We are here, in the community, hoping to be a blessing to it.
We, the members of the First Baptist Church of Kingsbury, heartily acknowledge that it is God who builds the church (cf. Matt. 16:18). Our desire is simply to be used by Him in that work. We are not into gimmicks, tricks, or manipulation in order to "add to the membership. Our longing is to worship and serve the Lord Jesus Christ as we covenant together in two primary aspects:
* To build up the body of Christ (the Church); and,
* To proclaim the saving gospel to the lost.
We believe this will take place (as God is pleased) when we stand as "the Church of the living God, the pillar and ground of truth (I Timothy 3:15). None of this is intended to imply that we are a perfect congregation, but it is meant to spell out our genuine passion. We acknowledge that there is always room for growth...which is a thrill to us. We praise God for the grace He has worked in our hearts and lives, as well as the work He has promised to do.
The Lord "gave some to be¦pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ; till we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro¦by every wind of doctrine.
